A Day In The Val D'Orcia Part 2

So...Part 2 of our day in the Val d'Orcia...
Just a bunch of lovely shots of the next couple of hill towns, and the beautiful countryside.

We always love to drive these roads, and never mind the twists and turns...
This road is just outside the little village of Montecchiello, between Montepulciano and Pienza. It's a perfect day trip to visit all three towns.

The main gate into Montecchiello

Someday I'm gonna own one of these old tin telephone signs.
I love them!

We spent about an hour just walking around. Everything was closed on a Monday in November, but we had a grand time anyway.

I spotted this on a door.
It's about 3 x 2"...

Nobody around!

Love the autumn color coming on...

We did visit the little church again. It's so nice inside...

Just a few chairs set up from Sunday service.

A favorite fabric shop.

This is a dining room for community events.
I'd never seen the doors open, so I took advantage
and snuck in to get a picture...

A random vegetable garden with all the stuff.

I like the red door...

A view of Pienza in the distance...
our next stop!

As we left town the mayor bid us "arrivederci"...

Next to Pienza. Normally we would stop for lunch here, but we'd had a big dinner the night before and we weren't up for a sit down meal. Plus, there were treats with Proseco earlier in Montepulciano.

A few shots of Pienza for you-

The views are spectacular.

We played a game of Foosball at a local bar, and as the sun started to head down, we started to head back home...
It was a really great day.
Thanks, Mom.
