Biennale 2024 -The U.S. Pavillion

I didn't think that this year could top the last U.S. Pavillion at the Venice Biennale, but...whoa.

Jeffrey Gibson pretty much rocked my little world...I'll let the photos, etc do the writing...

Entrance to the Pavillion

Ok, I will say that I was knocked out by the color, texture and details of the work.
Pattern was huge here, too....
Lots of intricate bead work, often spelling out declarations.

Rooms filled with pattern and color

The time it must have taken!

"Hold These Truths To Be
Self Evident"

I especially love these busts, below.

These paintings below each hold a hard to read message, but I just love the concept here.

"We Will Be Known Forever By The Tracks That We Leave"

They include these beautiful beaded pieces.

"Liberty When It Begins To Take Root
Is A Plant Of Rapid Growth"

"The Great Spirit Is In All Things"

"Action Now Action Is Eloquence"

It is a wonderful show, with even more works, including an incredible video installation that made me want to dance and drum! Joyful energy to watch. Talk about raising one's vibration...I was in tears.

Venice! Spring, 2024

As always, we are spending some time in Venice. The Venice Biennale is going on, so there is a ton of art to see, lots of people in town, and all around a good time.

We are in an apartment we've stayed at a few times before, in the Cannaregio neighborhood. We love this area.

The weather has been up and down. It's been chilly, grey and windy. A little wet...and then sunny! When the sun does come out, it's nice and warm. This all makes it very hard to "pack" for a long day hiking around town. We dress in layers, Baby!

Anyway, enjoy some lovely shots of town here....it gives you an idea of the weather changes!

I've said it soooo many times. People seem to either love or hate Venice. We love her. We could live here, no problem.

Early evening in our neck of the woods...

We came across this exhibition when we took our first walk...
It's a winner. Really fun to stumble upon.

It's fantastic to see contemporary art in these big old churches.

Looking at a huge work through layers of walls, from one side
to the other side of a giant space.

Skulls were a major subject.

I liked the reflection....

Later that day, we found these....Very happy and colorful works.

It's cool to come across random sculptures in the city...

After long days walking thousands of steps, we always head home for a bite and a sip.
We sleep like babies.

Our canal at night.

More to come soon!
