Burano Is Magical

We're back home in Umbria, but still thinking back on our time in Venice.

Especially since the weather here in Umbria is rainy, grey and wet. Venice was like summer...Sunny, warm and beautiful. Sigh. We'll get better weather soon...

So, one of our days in Venice was spent taking the boat to Burano, an outer island about 40 minutes away. Burano is known for the brightly colored houses and lace. I'm just concentrating on the brightly colored houses... They always blow our minds, and we'll always go back to Burano.

Enjoy...

Burano is very well known, and there are tons of day-tripping tourists like us visiting. Some day I'd love to spend a night or two here, just to see what it's like with nobody around but locals.

There are areas away from the main drag where you can get an idea of it, so spend the time walking all around. Get away from the trinket shops and restaurants. You'll be happy you did. It's a small island and you can literally walk every inch of it in an hour or two, maximum.

I love the walls that are kind of falling apart...the colors and textures are their own forms of art.

We'll be back soon, Burano. Maybe next time we'll spend the night...Sigh.
