Every year we can't wait to take the first drive up the dirt road that leads to Caseificio Fontemanna.
We dream of their wonderful sheep's milk cheeses and yogurts when we are back in the States...
When we see the little white cheese shop, we are very happy campers.
Always a couple of cats around. Friendly, too. |
On this visit, we were so glad to meet Signore Salvetore, the father of Antonio and Marco…husband of Gesuita. This is a family affair, and we enjoy being customers of such wonderful people. We are warmly welcomed, and take time to catch up with what's new.
I've written about them before, but it's always nice to give these folks a shout out.
Today, we loaded up on all things dairy…..
A young hunk of pecorino, some ricotta, too many jars of yogurt, and the super soft and silky primosale the freshest ever pecorino. |
It sells out every day. We feel so thrilled, and lucky... when we have a chance to buy some! |
So tasty with citrus, or any fruit. Picnic? Yes, let's! |
It tastes of the fields in such the right way. |
Yes, we probably overdid it…again…but what the heck. We're only here a short time, and we want/need to enjoy all the tastiest bits of life!
Tomorrow morning, after our extra long walk, the yogurts will be especially tasty, no doubt.
Another shot, just because. |
The ricotta…well, half of it was consumed for dinner tonight. Sigh. |
Fontemanna ricotta, tomatoes from Yolanda, and olive oil from Katia's family trees. Oh, yes. |
Caseificio Fontemanna is well worth seeking out, if you are in the area.
Grazie, Carissimi- A Presto!!
