Well, who are we kidding..it's all about the food, right?
And at the top of the food chain here….at least for me…is pasta.
Old school pasta.
The kind of pasta you will find behind these strands of fabric that serve as a door at one of our favorite local pasta store. Yes, PASTA STORE.
These are small locally owned and run shops that sell freshly made pasta of various types. You can order in advance, if you need something in particular, or hope to luck into buying something as a 'walk in', like we did yesterday.
I thought we might get lucky and just get something for the two of us, and it all worked out…
But just imagine the possibilities…..
What's for supper tonight, Baby? |
Hmmmm… Hard to decide…. |
These hard working ladies are hard at it, filling orders to supply the locals. I would love to have a place like this where we live in the states! But I think you might need at least one Italian Grandma to make it work.
Going all old school at the pasta shop. Classic. |
In all seriousness, I've ordered pasta here many times, and am always shocked at the reasonable prices. Yesterday I ordered the very simple umbricelli, an eggless pasta made with water and durham wheat. I wanted it to go with the tomato sauce our pals Tonino & Ruth gave us the over day.
There is nothing better than a perfect tomato sauce with a perfect pasta noodle.
Just enough for two, please. |
The taste of summer in Umbria. Thanks, Tonino! |
I mean, come on… Is there anything better?!? |
The only additions to this little Pasta Party were the locally made seeded bread from Lia, the bread guru of Paciano….
…and the best parmesan cheese ever.
Dinner is ready, Baby….. |
Can't wait to go back for more!!
