Our landlord wanted to have some of his old tenants over for dinner, so we made a plan to cook together and even make homemade pasta. It was a really fun day in both our kitchens!
I decided to make two veggie side dishes to go with our tagliatelle...roasted onions and grilled peppers.
What's not to love?
I marinated the onions overnight in red wine vinegar, water, sugar and herbs...
rosemary and thyme. A little butter at the end... |
Grilled the peppers inside. |
The onions turned out so damn good. |
After getting my veggies done, I went downstairs to help our landlord make the pasta.
Big fun! He didn't want his photo put on social media, and I respect that.
We had a good time together, and in the end it took all four hands to get the job done.
Getting ready to mix in eggs and knead the pasta dough. |
That would be the mighty hand of our landlord... |
Cutting and putting pasta through the machine. |
Pretty cool! Now it needs to dry some before we cut it into tagliatelle. |
Don't even THINK about it, Johnny!
Hands off! |
It turned out great! |
Mmmmmm...just add sauce. |
I almost forgot to get a photo of the finished product before
I devoured it. |
The second course of veggie side dishes was good, too... |
Roasted onions, grilled peppers and a 'field greens' and ricotta pie.
Yes, please. |
It was so nice to sit outside and watch the sun go down with good food, wine and pals.
We need to do this more often.
A happy Johnny is the best treat of all! |
